Meeting Minutes
Friday, September 12, 2014


Present:  Amanda Blair, Peter Cable, William Dunbar, George James, Diana Atwood Johnson, and Mary Stone.

Invited guest: Jessica Nelligan.

Absent:  Evan Griswold and Bruce Baratz

Welcome by Chair and meeting was called to order at 9:06am.

Mary Stone is a voting alternate to make a full quorum

Chair introduced Jessica Nelligan and explained Open space to her.

P. Cable made motion to accept minutes, B. Dunbar seconded, motion carried.

New Business – Chair asked for input regarding a referral from the First Selectwoman regarding a project proposed by three Girl Scouts working on a Silver badge.  They would like to leave painted rocks on trails.  A discussion followed asking many different questions.  Chair will meet with Girl Scouts soon and clarify their request.  Members expressed that it would be nice if this was some sort of a service project.
G. James shared a pamphlet that was made by for a boy scout project several years ago and thought maybe the Girl Scouts could do something similar.

Chair shared an updated copy of the new open space layer on the Town’s GIS map. This shows all land protected as open space in Old Lyme owned in fee by various governmental entities and land conservation organizations.  The site is accessible from the town’s website via a link.

Property Update – Chair reported that there is a meeting pending regarding the Kus’s property. She will keep the committee informed.

Land Steward – Chair shared interested candidates applications and felt it has been narrowed down to two.  Chair asked if the sub-committee was available to meet with potential candidates in the upcoming week.

Finally, chair shared the The Land Conservation Council will be having an all-day course on GIS Apps on September 26, 2014.

Motion to adjourn was made by B. Dunbar and seconded by A. Blair.

Meeting adjourned at 10:10 am.
